Lifelong Dream - John

 We leave today! We're going with four of our best friends! We're also leaving behind other great friends and we'll miss being with them. :(. We fly into Dallas via Little Rock. Then off to Paris, FR. take a train to Zurich to stay Sunday night. Then another train to Venice.

All of my life, as far back as I can remember, I have wanted to go to Venice! We'll spend two days in Venice then off to a ten-day cruise of the Eastern Mediterranean visiting ten amazing cities like Santorini, Ephesus and Istanbul. We end the cruise and will stay in Athens for two days there.

Then we fly from Athens back to Paris for two days in Paris. We fly home from Paris on November 1.

While we are away, we have a wonderful couple staying at our home. We are using Trusted House Sitters (.com) and are thrilled to have the peace knowing our KittyBynx and our property will be well taken care of.

This is the longest I've ever been away from home. It's really a stretch, as I love being home and in my comfortable surroundings.

Morning came an hour earlier but we were still up and at the buffet at 7:30, and assembled for our tour at 8:45 Corfu is a beautiful Greek island in the Ionian Sea, known for its stunning landscapes.  Corfu's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which features a mix of Venetian, French, and British architectural influences. Boat-Notes

The followong are just a collection of thoughts that don’t make it into other blog entries. Bryan and I were in cabin 4600. John and Larry were next door in 4602. These were on the lowest passenger deck and each room had a nice sized port hole window. They were not far above water level. When we were docked it was possible for those outside on the dock to see in.  Joe and Alan were a deck up in 5616 which had a nice sized window.  Although the buffet was a regular part of every day’s dining, there were also two formal dining rooms, the Venetian and the Aqua. These were nice, comfortable, formal dining options.  The buffet at times was busy and crowded, and not unlike throwing a bunch of steaks into a pit of hungry alligators.  But there were always a lot of options to choose from. Greece: Mykonos

This was our final full day on the ship and we were back in Greece. This time to the Island of Mykonos.  We had a casual morning so we decided to have a nice quiet breakfast in the Venetian dining room.  Mykonos was a bit of a mystery at first, as no one seemed to know anything about it except for it being a party island, whatever that means.  Anchored in the bay, we had a great view of the island. White washed houses covered the hillside again with the same look as Santorini. In fact, looking at Mykonos from this vantage point is exactly what I had expected Santorini to look like. A picturesque oceanside landscape of blue and white. Mykonos is known for its vibrant nightlife, with numerous bars, clubs, and beach parties. It's a popular destination for party-goers.
