Here we go again

This is actually my second attempt at this post. I had completed it and had Bryan check it (he always double checks what I write to fix my errors) and I THOUGHT I posted it so I deleted the draft.

Nope, all gone. Thats what happens with such a lack of sleep, I can’t be trusted.

We woke early once again, and after a near sleepless night of battling mosquitoes I was in no condition to pack and travel (or write my daily blog) but away we go.

We went to a local stop for breakfast and no one was able to get what they wanted, and so we were tired and hungry, or cranky, or maybe that was just me. Well, all except Joe, who was up at the crack of dawn, packed and ready to go before some of us even got up.

We easily made our way to the water taxi, in sharp contrast to a couple of days earlier, and boarded the correct boat, went the correct direction, and even got off at the right stop for the train station. Wow, again, what a difference a couple of days of experience makes.

We then boarded the correct train and made a 5 minute transfer to the next and final train with no problems. We were feeling pretty good at this point.

Then we arrived at the train station and everything quickly fell apart again.

We were provided the address of the cruise ship dock, and the instructions said that Google maps were supposed to take us right there; however Google maps did no such thing. It showed us different ports, anywhere from a 10 to 45 minute walk. We debated, looked at the maps a little more, and had to decide whether to take a taxi or walk. We finally decided the best guess was to go to the pier that was only a 10 minute walk, and we headed out.

Ten minutes later we wondered if we should have taken the taxi. Twenty minutes later we decided we probably should have taken the taxi. Thirty minutes later we knew we should have taken the taxi. Forty-five minutes later we came dragging up to the cruise terminal, exhausted and sweating, having dragged our luggage across rough cobblestone for a mile in the sun.

If that wasn’t bad enough, we then had to wait. We stood in a long line to drop off our luggage, then a long line to enter the terminal, then a long line to check in for the cruise, then a long line for security, then a long line to get on board.

We were hot, sweaty, tired, frustrated and needed sleep, so once we were on board the ship we did what everyone else does when they feel this way…

We went to the buffet.
